Large family would benefit from camp experience

WEEKEND EDITION
July 24 - 25, 2004
A school counselor writes that a North Las Vegas family would like to send six children to camp, but cannot afford to. The husband and wife support their three children and three nephews for whom they have guardianship on a single income.
"I have the pleasure of working with five of the children every day at school," the counselor writes. "They are all very well behaved and pleasant to talk to."
"They are wonderful children who don't get the opportunity to participate in many extra-curricular activities because of the size of the family," she writes.
The Sun Camp Fund provides camp scholarships for children who otherwise would not be able to afford summer camp, through donations gathered year-round. The Las Vegas Sun covers all administrative costs, so all donations go directly to paying for camps.
