Creel census clerks said that boaters continued to be successful catching largemouth and striped bass in Lake Mead's Overton Arm.

Anglers have been enjoying good fishing near Stewart's Point with stripers ranging from 1 to 3 pounds that are being taken with anchovies. Largemouth bass that ranged from 2 to 3 pounds continue to be caught near the islands in Echo Bay. A few smallmouth bass were reportedly caught and released as well. The fish averaged 12 inches. Black plastic worms were taking the fish.

Boaters reported a few largemouth bass were taken near St. Thomas with top-water lures.

Two boaters who were fishing on Monday near the 33 Hole in the Boulder Basin told NDOW they had no trouble catching stripers that ranged from 8 to 10 inches. The fish were feeding on shad on the lake's surface.

An angler who was fishing near Temple Bar over the weekend said he caught and released a dozen smallmouth bass, along with several largemouth bass. He did not see any striper boils in that part of the lake. Channel catfish are biting throughout the lake and anglers are taking the fish with anchovies and shrimp.

Due to the extreme heat, most fishing is taking place in the early mornings and late at night.

Cottonwood Cove anglers reported success for small striped bass. One couple caught 90 fish, all of which were 2 pounds or less.

Shore anglers are advised that weeds in Haymeadow Reservoir are becoming more prevalent and have begun to make fishing difficult. Daytime temperatures were in the low 80s and the night temperature has dropped to the high 50s.
