Resolution to expand LV redevelopment
Thursday, July 22, 2004 | 9:30 a.m.
In other action Wednesday, the Las Vegas City Council approved without comment a resolution to begin the process to expand the Downtown Redevelopment District to include three large parcels near downtown.
The areas include: property located between Interstate 15 and the railroad tracks from Charleston Boulevard to Desert Inn Road; a portion of west Las Vegas generally located south of Washington Avenue, north of Alta Drive, east of Rancho Drive and west of Martin L. King Boulevard, as well as land generally east of Martin L. King, south of Owens Avenue, west of Interstate 15 and north of Bonanza Road; and the north side of Sahara Avenue generally between Maryland Parkway, Sixth Street and East St. Louis Avenue.
The item was passed as one of a group of consent agenda items.
The council also approved a proposal to put $1 million of Downtown Redevelopment Authority funds into a revenue fund for its new Commercial Visual Improvement Pilot Program.
The program offers rebates of up to 50 percent for external improvements to commercial or industrial properties within the redevelopment district and other blighted areas. Improvements to building facades and parking lots, as well as permanent landscaping, are eligible for the rebates.
