Letter: Unwarranted war is reason to vote against Bush
Friday, July 16, 2004 | 9:01 a.m.
What a tragedy the Iraq war has become. The Senate Intelligence Committe has just informed us that Saddam had no WMD, no nuclear weapons program, no clear ties to al-Qaida and that we were misled by the CIA.
So all the reasons given for attacking Iraq were based on faulty evidence. Why didn't the Bush administration question CIA Director George Tenet about the sources for his reports, and why do they still refuse to condemn him? He told the administration that it was a "slam-dunk" that Saddam had WMD and they believed him.
Not only that, but they began an orchestrated campaign to persuade Congress and the American people of the danger that Saddam posed. President Bush still refuses to admit that the war was not warranted. The biggest mystery to me is why people would want to vote for the Bush/Cheney ticket.
