Metro Police's homeland security bureau and Nellis Air Force Base officials were alerted Thursday after a patrol officer spotted six pipe bombs in a trailer park that abuts the base, authorities said.
Steven Linn, 38, was arrested on six counts of manufacturing and possessing an explosive device and was being held this morning in the Clark County Detention Center.
"They had to determine if the person was anti-government or if he had something against the country," Officer Jose Montoya, Metro Police spokesman, said. However, authorities found no evidence of that.
Patrol officers were called to the Storyville Mobile Home Park at 3755 N. Nellis Blvd. near Las Vegas Boulevard about 8:30 a.m. after someone reported a domestic disturbance between Linn and his ex-wife. Linn was no longer at the trailer when officers arrived.
Outside the trailer next to a swamp cooler police spotted six explosive devices made of capped plastic tubing and gunpowder, Montoya said.
Officers called the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue bomb squad, which took the devices and later dismantled them. No other explosives were found, the fire department's spokesman, Tim Szymanski, said.
Police found Linn a few hours later and arrested him.
