Letter: GOP has wielded film’s techniques
Thursday, July 15, 2004 | 8:49 a.m.
It is ironic that Michael Moore's film, "Fahrenheit 9/11," gets criticized by Bush supporters on the basis that he "selectively uses bits and pieces ... of film" to make a point, when this is a technique used extensively in Republican ads.
Furthermore, the wrath roused by Moore's purported use of "insinuation" is laughable when compared to the Bush administration's use of that technique to convince America that there was a connection between Saddam Hussein and 9/11, a propaganda lie that 40 percent of Americans still believe, according to recent reports.
And for good measure, how about the exaggeration of the "imminent danger" Iraq posed with the nonexistent weapons of mass destruction? Moore has simply stolen some of the Republican thunder.
