AAA Nevada, which tracks gas prices, reported Wednesday that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Nevada fell to $2.11. That price is 19 cents per gallon less than the record high of $2.30, set on May 27.
Despite the lower prices, Nevada drivers are still paying a statewide average of 41 cents a gallon more today than they did a year ago, AAA Nevada reported. The nationwide average price for a gallon of gas is $1.91.
In Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, the average price is $2.05, while in Henderson drivers are paying $2.09, AAA Nevada reported.
AAA Nevada reported that the cost of crude oil, the raw material from which gasoline is made, has been increasing over the past week. Fuel consumption is usually at its peak during the summer, creating a tight balance between supply and demand, the association reported.
