Saint Louis prospect eyes UNLV

The strange recruiting saga of East St. Louis (Ill.) High guard Tommie Liddell took another turn on Tuesday when Liddell told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he wants to re-sign with the Billikens during the early November signing period.

Liddell, who failed to meet minimum NCAA freshman eligibility requirements and will attend a prep school in the fall, had told an Internet-site reporter last week that he had decided to attend UNLV instead of re-signing with Saint Louis.

"My dad called me and told me what was going on," said Liddell, who told the Post-Dispatch the Billikens were "the best fit."

Liddell will once again become recruitable if he is not enrolled at Saint Louis for the fall. However, his father, Tommie Sr., said that's a moot point now. "We had a long talk, and he wants to go to SLU," Liddell Sr. said.
