CARSON CITY -- Pete Anderson, who has been deputy state forester for more than three years, has been named state forester-firewarden by Gov. Kenny Guinn.
Anderson, 52, takes over the $87,991 a year job from Steve Robinson, who was named Guinn's natural resources advisor.
Anderson, who has worked for the forestry division for the past nine years, said Tuesday the state is "facing critical natural resource issues including forest and woodland insect and disease outbreaks, the rapid spread of invasive plant species in our rangelands, and a variety of impacts from wildlife fires."
Anderson received a bachelor's degree in renewable natural resources and wildland outdoor recreation from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1975. He has worked for the state Division of Environmental Protection and for the National Park Service in both Utah and Alaska.
