Letter: Demand answers from politicians

This country spends millions to try and convict individuals for lying about incidents in their personal lives -- incidents that do not harm anyone except they and their families.
On the other hand, we seem not to care that elected officials lie in order to get their way. This has cost hundreds of our men and women in the military their lives, and has left countless thousands of people with injuries.
Where is the moral majority? Why aren't they demanding action? They are certainly quick enough when an individual lies about his personal life.
Why aren't we all demanding that elected officials tell all they know and release papers not related to national security? Why are the papers on the national energy meeting so important they are being kept secret? Why haven't we indicted someone relating to the millions overcharged by a company that was given a no-bid contract? Why aren't we demanding that the president spend more time on the job he was elected to perform?
And where is our news media? Why aren't they demanding answers to these and other questions? Are they asleep at the wheel, or don't they care?
