Letter: Film shines light on crucial issues
Friday, July 9, 2004 | 8:49 a.m.
My husband and I went to see the Michael Moore documentary "Fahrenheit 9/11" the other night. Even though I have been quite involved in the political happenings that are before us right now, I must say I was shocked and very disturbed by what was brought to light, particularly how entrenched the Bush family is with the Saudis -- to the tune of $1 billion-plus.
I came away with many questions, including: What about no senator being available to sign for the people who wished to contest the handling of the 2000 election in Florida? Who works for whom in this government of the people, for the people and by the people?
Our senators and congressman should start taking the time to read, study and debate all the future laws of this land before voting them in as law. This Patriot Act has the potential to strip away all of our rights. Time to wake up, America! We have had the light of day shined brightly in our faces.
To all who have not seen this documentary, for your own sake and for the sake of our country, please go see it. It is an eye-opener!
