Library receives arthritis references
The Nevada State Health Division's Advisory Committee on Arthritis Prevention and Control Program is announcing the placement of arthritis reference books and related educational/informational books at the West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
The books were donated, in part, by the Arthritis Resource Center previously located at the Carson Rehabilitation Center in Carson City. The remaining books were purchased through a grant from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Call Ike Cress at (775) 684-4026.
Women's health expo planned at Stardust
The Women's Health Connection is holding its first World of Women Health Expo Aug. 21 at 8 a.m. at the Stardust hotel.
The Women's Health Connection educates women about the importance of early cancer detection and screens eligible women without charge.
The fee is $99 for nonprofit groups if registered by July 23; and $399 for all others if registered by July 23.

Heart disease subject of women's conference
A free women's conference on heart disease and stroke will be held from 9 a.m to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Tuscany Suites, 255 E. Flamingo Road.
The conference will include a free heart healthy lunch, blood pressure and glucose screening, speakers and interactive workshops.
The conference is a collaborative effort of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Southern Nevada Coalition of Concerned Women and the Southern Nevada Black Nurses Association.
