Hospital to host epilepsy conference
Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, will host the first Nevada Regional Conference of Epilepsy at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in the hospital's auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.
Dr. Simon Farrow, Sunrise chief of neurology, will address epilepsy and medications, and Sunrise neurosurgeon Dr. Stuart Kaplan will offer information about surgical treatment for epilepsy.
Additional presenters include epileptologists Dr. William J. Marks Jr., University of California, San Francisco Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and Dr. Robert Fisher, Stanford University Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, who will discuss new developments in epilepsy research and alternative treatments when medications are not enough.

Seminar for seniors concerns ID theft
The North Las Vegas Library District, in cooperation with North Las Vegas Police Community Services Division, will offer a seminar for seniors and concerned adults from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane.
Topics will include fraud and identity theft, how to prevent them and tips to overcome vulnerable situations. A discussion of current concerns to seniors will be included.
The program is free and open to the public.

Credit program to help banking
"Fresh Start Checking," a program offered cooperatively by Consumer Credit Counseling Service, a nonprofit United Way Agency, and Nevada State Bank, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the counseling service 3650 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite 32.
The program will allow residents who have been denied banking privileges an opportunity to re-establish and maintain a satisfactory banking relationship.
The fee for the required registration is $20.

Auditions scheduled for youth musical
The Nevada Youth Alliance will hold auditions for the youth musical "Tapestry," from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday at the Pointe, 2125 Las Vegas Blvd. North; Friday at the Nevada Ballet Theatre, 1651 Inner Circle, Suite 2; and from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Winchester Community Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.
Rehearsals will be held from from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. July 15 thereafter through Aug. 19 at the Winchester Community Center.

Seniors United, a nonprofit,
nonpartisan organization will meet from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. Candidates will introduce themselves and talk a few minutes to the group. Call 873-6022.
