Report on LV Centennial sponsorship plan is delayed

The entertainment company responsible for securing sponsors to pay for the $2 million Las Vegas Centennial Celebration has missed a June 30 deadline, a member of the centennial committee said.
Clear Channel Enterntainment, the company selected by the centennial committee to bring in money to pay for the year-long festivities, did not follow the deadline outlined in its contract, Councilman Gary Reese, a member of the committee said.
The executive director of the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration is not worried, however.
"It's pretty routine," said Stacy Allsbrook, the executive director of the committee. " The market may not be what it was." All Clear Channel has to do is tell the committee that, Allsbrook said.
"There were supposed to have been two 'number ones' and two 'number twos' by June 30," Reese said. "As far as I know ... they've missed their deadline."
A meeting Friday will allow the committee to assess the current financial situation, Reese said.
If Clear Channel does not meet their end of the bargain, "it will just get us to dig in harder," Reese said.
Calls to the company were not returned this morning.
"I'm sure they've got reasons and answers; I've got a positive feeling," Reese said.
