Holiday visitors up from last year

Traffic was heavy on Interstate 15 south of Tropicana Avenue as Independence Day visitors headed out of town Monday. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority expected about 277,000 visitors in Las Vegas through Monday -- up about 1 percent from a year ago. The nongambling economic effect of those visitors was expected to total $166.6 million, also up about 1 percent from last year.
