California company plans move

A California corporate headquarters is planning a move to Henderson and is expected to seek state tax incentives in support of the deal.
Pacer Stacktrain is based in Concord, Calif., and manages a fleet of stackable railroad containers. The company is in discussions to purchase 20 acres owned by the city of Henderson in a commercial development at Whitney Mesa, said Bob Cooper, Henderson economic development director.
The move is expected to bring at least 350 employees to Henderson, with about half of those workers making between $85,000 and $100,000 a year, Cooper said. The project still needs approval from the Henderson Planning Commission and the City Council. The company also will need to finalize purchase plans for the site.
Cooper said the company was working with the Nevada Development Authority to prepare an application for tax incentives from the Nevada Commission on Economic Development. Bob Shriver, executive director of the commission, said an application has not yet been submitted but he said the salary range would likely qualify for incentives.
