Jazz music
Saxophone player Richard Elliot and keyboardist Jeff Lorber will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Spring Mountain State Park as part of the "Jazz Under the Stars" series. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $45.50 adults, $15 ages 13 through 18, free children 12 and under. 228-3780.
'Spirit of America'
The patriotic musical "The Spirit of America" will be performed by the Green Valley Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Parkway. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. 454-8484.
String band
The Banana Slug String Band will perform at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St., as part Las Vegas' "Children's Summer Concert Series." Tickets are $3. 229-6383.
'Sounds of Summer'
The following groups will perform at The District at Green Valley Ranch Station Casino as part of its "Sounds of Summer" series. All acts are free. 851-3081:
9 p.m. today -- Too Close, a duo playing contemporary and country music.
9 p.m. Saturday -- Island Tyme, a group playing everything from reggae to smooth calypso to funky R&B.
Theater
'Food for Love'
Sam Shepard's play "Fool for Love" will be performed at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. today and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Social Experimentation and Absurd Theater, 103 E. Charleston Blvd. Tickets are $15 at the door, $10 advance. 736-4313.
