An aspiring R&B singer charged in the March 5 triple shooting that left two women dead was formally sentenced to death on Wednesday and his execution was set for Sept. 24.
Lawyers for 34-year-old Alfonso "Slinky" Blake immediately filed a motion for a stay of execution and told the court Blake would be filing a direct appeal.
Blake was sentenced to two death sentences, one each for the murders of Sophear Choy, 19, and Priscilla Van Dine, 22. He was also sentenced to 8 to 20 years in prison for the attempted murder of Kim Choy, 23, who was shot in the head and hands. Blake also received another 8 to 20 years for using a deadly weapon in the attempted murder of Kim Choy.
Blake stood silent prior to being sentenced by District Judge Sally Loehrer, saying only "I've already said it all," a reference to his comments delivered at his penalty hearing.
Blake was convicted of shooting the women execution-style in a desert area in southwest Las Vegas after an argument while the four were moving furniture and personal belongings from Blake's home.
