Letter: Rules would halt double dipping

With conditions clearly stated, I see no problem with public employees serving in the Legislature. They must not introduce any legislation that would affect their jobs. And during sessions they should take unpaid leave of absence from their jobs. This means they should not receive any pay whatsoever from their respective public positions while the Legislature is in session. There should be no double dipping.
I am a retired state employee on a pension and Social Security and I am not allowed to double dip. Why should these people take advantage of the taxpayers? No wonder our state taxes are in such a terrible mess. If the cities, counties, college system and school districts throughout the state revamp their personnel rules and regulations, there should be an end to this issue soon.
Also, why should the universities and the community colleges each need a lobbyist? There should be at least one competent person out there capable of representing the whole University and Community College System of Nevada. There is no sense in paying several people to do the same job.
