History Month
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is sponsoring the following programs throughout the city to celebrate February, African-American History Month:
Performance of "Home," a three-person comedy drama -- 2 p.m. Sunday, West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
"People Can Fly," an adventure told through spoken word, song and dance -- 10 a.m. Tuesday, West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd., and at 1 p.m. Tuesday, West Charleston Library, 6301 W. Charleston Blvd.
Poetry reading
New York City art critics Donald Kuspit, Carter Ratcliff, Robert Morgan and Jeffrey Wright will read their nature-themed poetry at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Art Museum at the West Sahara Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Admission is $5 adults, $3 seniors, $2 students 12 years and older, free for children under 12. 360-8000.
Lecture
Architect Bart Prince, known for several Architectural Award houses of the year, will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Paul B. Sogg architecture building on the UNLV campus. Admission is free. 895-1575.
Magic potions class
The North Las Vegas Library is offering a free "Magic Potions Class" at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 2300 Civic Center Drive. No registration is required. 633-1070.
'Run for a Wish'
The 3rd annual Kendall Tenney's "Run for a Wish" fund-raiser will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday starting at Neonopolis. To register, call 212-9474 or go online to www.KVBC.com.
Play reading
Asylum Theater will stage the reading of a new play by Dale Andersen, "A Better Place," at 2 p.m. Saturday at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Tickets are $5. 455-7340.
'Celluloid Closet'
The documentary "The Celluloid Closet" will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday and at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive. Tickets are $3. 455-7340.
'Separate'
The 1954 movie, "Separate But Equal," will be shown at 8 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd., as part of a film tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. Admission is free. 229-4800.

The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District offers the following book discussion groups at area libraries this week:
Spanish Language Book Discussion Group -- 6 p.m. Monday, Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. 507-3427.
Spring Valley Book Discussion Group -- 7 p.m. Thursday, Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd. 507-3830.
Acting workshops
The New City Theatre, 2900 Patrick Lane, is offering free acting workshops for those over the age of 18 from 1-3 p.m. every Saturday. 547-1228.
