CARSON CITY -- Gov. Kenny Guinn today named Monte Miller of Henderson to the state Commission on Judicial Selection that will interview attorneys to succeed the late Justice Myron Leavitt on the Nevada Supreme Court.
Miller replaces Homeland Security Director Jerry Bussell of Reno, who resigned from the judicial selection commission.
Miller, 57, is president and CEO of Nevada Holding Services Inc. in Las Vegas.
He previously served as a temporary member of the commission for the selection of a new judge to replace District Judge Gene Porter in Clark County last year.
Applications to replace Leavitt must be submitted before Feb. 19, and the commission will conduct interviews March 18 in Carson City.
The commission will nominate three people and the governor will make the final selection.
