Church seminar offers budget tips
Central Christian Church will host The Good Sense Budget Course, a seminar from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson.
The course will teach individuals how to be good stewards of financial resources by becoming diligent earners, generous givers, wise savers, cautious debtors and sensible consumers.
During the course, participants will develop a spending plan for the coming year and learn ways to get their financial life organized.
Registration is $20 for individuals, $30 for couples, which includes the cost of materials and a box lunch. Guests who register after Wednesday will have to pay a $5 late fee.

Grants, phones donated to state
Verizon Wireless awarded the state of Nevada $15,000 in grants and 75 phones in an effort to curb domestic violence in 2003.
Nevada was among 11 states to receive the grants and phones.
The Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence received a HopeLine grant to develop statewide training programs to raise awareness and aid in the prevention of domestic violence.
The Safe House in Las Vegas and Safe Nest were also awarded HopeLine grants.

The National Alliance for the Mentally III
holds weekly support groups for families coping with someone who has a mental illness. The meetings are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at 6161 W. Charleston Blvd., Building 1, Room 43. Call 258-1618.
