Cargill merges fertilizer business with IMC

Cargill Inc., the world's largest agricultural company, today agreed to merge its fertilizer business with IMC Global Inc., the world's largest phosphate producer, to create a new company with assets of $5.4 billion. IMC Global shares surged 18 percent.
