Existing home sales increase

WASHINGTON -- U.S. sales of previously owned homes increased to a 6.47 million annual pace in December, concluding a record year, an industry report showed today. The median sales price rose 1.9 percent to $173,200.
Existing home sales rose 6.9 percent during the month from November, the National Association of Realtors said.
In the Las Vegas area, 2003 resales topped out at 49,792. That was a year-to-year increase of 11,171 sales, or almost 30 percent, Home Builders Research Inc. reported.
The median price of a previously owned home in Las Vegas was $180,000 in December, a year-to-year increase of $23,000, or 14.6 percent, Home Builders Research reported.
