Minifairs planned for mentors
Mentoring Above and Beyond 2004, two free half-day minifairs for those in service to others, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday in the Sawyer State Office BuildingPersonnel Training Room, 555 E. Washington Ave.
All youth sports, recreational coaches and volunteer mentors can hear about the nationally recognized "Time Out for Better Sports for Kids," an action plan sponsored by the National Alliance For Youth Sport. Call Heather A. Smoll at 892-2322.
Also, in recognition of National Mentoring Month, the mentoring informational display in the foyer of the state building will continue through Jan. 30
Berkley to meet with constituents
Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., will host her latest Out of the Office session from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday in the Sears court at the Meadows mall, 4300 Meadows Lane.
The congresswoman will set up her mobile office next to the first floor entrance of Sears and will meet individually with constituents (no appointment necessary).
Berkley and her staff will also be available to answer questions or assist with issues such as veterans benefits, Social Security and Medicare claims and immigration.
Retired Salvation Army
Gen. Bramwell Tillsley will speak on wide ranging topics at 7 p.m. today, 9 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday at the Salvation Army office, 2900 Palomino Lane. Call Randal Fisher at 870-4430, Ext. 25.
