Letter: Bush presidency one of the worst
Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004 | 8:50 a.m.
The chances of Iraq being a pro-USA democracy in five to 10 years are very small. When people look back on the Bush presidency, he will not fare well and his term may well be viewed as one of the worst in American history.
He got us into a war on false premises, more than 500 members of the U.S. military and 10,000 Iraqis lost their lives and we added enormously to our national debt and for no identifiable gain.
In the meantime Afghanistan is slipping back into chaos and bin Laden, (the real danger to the U.S.) has had a chance to regroup and strengthen his hand. Bush has alienated other countries that could have been helpful to us in the war on terrorism. George W. Bush has not made us safer.
