Parents invited to camp fair
Congregation Ner Tamid and the Jewish Community Center of Southern Nevada are sponsoring a camp fair from 12:30 p.m to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at 2761 Emerson Ave.
Many camps from Nevada, California and Arizona will be on hand to answer questions. Participants will have the opportunity to talk to parents and their children about the different camps, day camps and sleep-away camps.

Science Bowl set for Feb. 7 at UNLV
The 13th annual Nevada Regional Science Bowl will take place Feb. 7 at University of Nevada, Las Vegas' Biegelow Physics Building.
Thirty-two teams representing schools in Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah will test their academic expertise in science and mathematics during the competition hosted by the Energy Department's National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office.
These organizations have sponsored awards in this year's competition:
First place, $2,500, Energy Department/Office of Repository Development; second place, $2,000, Stoller-Navarro Joint Venture; third place, $1,500, Desert Research Institute; fourth place, $1,000, Bechtel SAIC, LLC; fifth place, two at $500, Nevada Power Co.; seventh place, two at $300, Energy Department-Nevada Site Office/Environmental Management; ninth place, four at $100, Bechtel Nevada.
Schools participating in Science Bowl use the prize money for scholarship opportunities and to purchase additional books and equipment for their math and science programs.
Science Bowl questions are either multiple-choice or short-answer in the areas of chemistry, biology, physics, general science, Earth science, computer science and mathematics.
The Energy Department established Science Bowl in 1991 to promote and challenge the nation's high school students to excel in math and science and possibly pursue scientific and technical careers.

Red Hot Mamas Forums scheduled
Barbara Greenspun Womens Care Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330, is offering monthly Red Hot Mamas Forums to give women the information they need to manage menopause. The first forum, Pause and Effect: The Transition, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Dr. Michelle Lewis will discuss the biological changes women experience and their relation to health issues. She will also teach how to recognize and manage symptoms and provide information on therapies. Call 616-4900.
Saloon Sweethearts will host showcase
The Saloon Sweethearts, in their 20th year of raising funds for the American Cancer Society for the research of breast cancer plan their annual showcase at 11 a.m. Feb. 29 at the Greek Isles, 305 Convention Center Drive.
Over the years the Saloon Sweethearts have raised $130,000 for the American Cancer Society.
The showcase consists of local bartenders and waitresses, who for eight weeks will donate their time, energy and money to prepare for the event. The women will lip-synch to a saloon song dressed in Western attire.
A $25 donation will include show, door prizes and a "good old finger-lickin" buffet.
