Man killed in one-car rollover
A 32-year-old Las Vegas man died today after he rolled his car on Cliff Shadows Parkway at Gilmore Avenue, Metro Police said.
The man's 1989 Audi went off the road and into a desert area while going around a curve and spun clockwise, police said. It rolled twice and came to rest on its roof.
The man was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He landed about 60 feet from it, police said. He died several hours later at University Medical Center.
Speeding and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash. His name was not released this morning.
Fire destroys two apartments
Four people lost their homes in a fire that destroyed two apartments this morning near Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.
Firefighters were called to a house in the 2300 block of Pardee Lane about 8:30 a.m. The house had been divided into apartments and two of the apartments were on fire. A resident told firefighters his sofa caught fire, but the cause is still under investigation.
One man suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to University Medical Center. A property damage estimate was not available.
