Pedestrian struck on East Charleston

A pedestrian struck by a car on East Charleston Boulevard near 27th Street Saturday morning was in critical condition Sunday night.

Anthony Coryell, 24, of Las Vegas was crossing Charleston Boulevard midblock, where no crosswalk was available, when he was struck by a Dodge truck about midnight, police said.

The driver, 19-year-old Karli Edwards, tried to brake but still struck Coryell.

Coryell was taken to University Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday evening.

Police said Coryell appeared to be at fault and alcohol may have been a factor.

Delays likely on Hoover Dam

Drivers planning to cross Hoover Dam over the next two weeks should plan flexible schedules to allow extra time for delays, Bureau of Reclamation officials said.

Drivers will encounter traffic delays through Jan. 31, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m., due to lane restrictions resulting from road construction near the dam.

During these times, traffic will be restricted to one lane.

Although traffic lanes through the daylight hours will remain open in both directions, they will still be subject to intermittent closure to allow construction workers to pass, officials said.

Car collides with tour bus

A man was seriously injured when he ran a red light and struck the front of a tour bus Friday, authorities said.

John Courchesne, 59, was driving a 1994 Dodge Shadow west on Russell Road near McCarran International Airport about 11 p.m. when he drove through a red light and collided with a 2003 Prevost tour bus, police said.

Courchesne was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. He was listed in serious condition Sunday evening.

Jeffrey Justice, who drove the bus, and the 14 passengers reported no injuries.

Courchesne was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
