Mark Twain
McAvoy Layne, the author of the biography "Hooked on Twain," will become Mark Twain from noon to 1 p.m. today at the Lloyd D. George Courthouse, 333 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Admission is free. Bring a sack lunch, and light refreshments will be available. 229-1087.
Poets' corner
Poets' corner, a series featuring established poets and open-mike participants, will be held at 7 p.m. today at West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 229-4800.
Lecture
Milton Esterow, the editor and publisher of ARTnews, will lecture on how to look at art at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Art Museum in the West Sahara Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors 55 and older, $2 for students 12 and older and free for children under 12. 360-8000.
African workshop
Chief Fafore Kimya Akinlana will lead a two-hour workshop on African history, science, philosophy and health at 3 p.m. Sunday at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 229-4800.
