Letter: Police should change priorities to prevent crime
Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004 | 9:08 a.m.
I have read repeated editorials in the Las Vegas Sun about needing more police and raising our taxes to pay for them. The police we have now do little to stop crime. What our tax dollars get used for by the police is to harass citizens with speed traps, traffic stops, calls to domestic disputes and other things that are far less stressful to a policeman than going after criminals.
Until the current police change their priorities, adding more of them can only have a further negative effect on our communities.
