Bank One, which Wednesday agreed to be acquired by J.P. Morgan Chase, is closing its credit card processing center at 770 Pilot Road, south of McCarran International Airport.
The operation has about 150 employees, and it is scheduled to close by the end of March, said Bank One spokesman Thomas Kelly.
"It is being relocated, consolidating it with larger operations," he said, adding that the move was planned prior to the merger announcement.
Bank One also is involved in some commercial lending activity in Las Vegas, but Kelly described it as a "very small presence."
J.P. Morgan Chase has no significant commercial or retail banking presence in Las Vegas, banking industry executives said this morning. The company has, however, been involved as a participating lender in larger gaming industry loan packages, said Jay Kornmayer, chairman of Wells Fargo Bank Nevada.
