Sex assault detectives review confiscated material

Detectives with the Metro Police sexual assault unit are reviewing more than 100 videotapes and photographs found in the home of a daycare worker arrested Saturday on child pornography charges.

Kimya Winbush, 27, may face additional charges if more child pornography is found, Lt. Jeff Carlson said.

Winbush, a former employee of Creative Beginnings day care center, 5345 E. Bonanza Road, is being held in the Clark County Detention Center on 11 counts each of sexual assault of a victim under 14 and lewdnes of a victim under 14, two counts of promotion of a sexual performance of a minor and use of a minor in producing pornography.

A former neighbor found a videotape in a trash can Jan. 2 and discovered it showed a man having sexual relations with two young boys. Police traced it back to Winbush and arrested him.

During a search of his home, police seized 161 videotapes, 58 photographs and a video camera, but no additional charges had been filed against him as of this morning in relation to those discoveries.

When questioned by police, Winbush said he had taken explicit photographs of two other boys who attend Creative Beginnings, but police are still attempting to identify the children caught on video and in the pictures.

Winbush, who lived in the 6100 block of Babson Avenue, had worked at Creative Beginnings for about two years, the owner of the center said. Winbush had no criminal record in Nevada prior to this arrest, police said.
