Letter: Museum exhibit is appreciated

On New Year's Day, I had the distinctly fortuitous opportunity and pleasure to attend the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum Art Exhibit at The Venetian. This was to be the final Thursday in which Nevada residents were afforded the chance to view the current exhibit, "A Century of Painting: From Renoir to Rothko," free of charge from 5 p.m. until closing time. This program was offered on every Thursday from Nov. 27 through Jan. 1.
Being an avid and enthusiastic admirer of the impressionists and their paintings, I was quite skeptical that this current exhibit, on display through May 2, which features post-impressionist artwork, would hold any appeal for me. I am pleased to say, however, that I found the current exhibit to be an excellent collection of paintings representing a wide range of European and American artists.
I extend many thanks and sincerest appreciation to the folks responsible for putting this special Nevada resident program in place; otherwise, this would have been an art exhibit I would have passed up. Now, my horizons and tastes for different periods and styles of painting have expanded.
I am neither affiliated with nor employed by either The Venetian or the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum; I am simply a local resident who loves art.
