Judge OKs settlement for Nevada consumers
Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 | 11:12 a.m.
The result of the settlement is expected to translate into a $12 credit split between Nevada Power Co. and Southwest Gas Corp. bills for residential and small commercial customers. The settlement, approved by Judge Michael Douglas, calls for a $16.3 million payment to Southern Nevada customers immediately -- which will make up the $12 credit -- and another $32 million over as many as 15 years.
El Paso Corp. admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement. Nevada Consumer Advocate Tim Hay said a larger settlement is being negotiated with Sempra Energy.
