Man surrenders in fatal stabbing
Metro Police arrested a 75-year-old man Friday suspected of stabbing to death his neighbor, who was found dead behind the suspect's Spring Valley mobile home.
Oscar J. Webb was arrested after walking into a police substation about 10:30 a.m. and saying he had just killed a man, police said.
An officer took Webb back to his home in the Royal Ridge Mobile Home Estates near Decatur Boulevard and Harmon Avenue, where they found the body of Mark O. Bornowski, 74.
Webb was taken to University Medical Center after complaining of chest pains.
When he is released from the hospital, Webb will be taken to the Clark County Detention Center, police said.
The Royal Ridge park for those over 55 years old is the community where "Little Rascals" actor Jay R. Smith, 87, was stabbed to death in 2002.
Charles "Wayne" Crombie, the suspect in that case, is scheduled for an April murder trial.
Man shot to death near downtown
Metro Police homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man late Sunday in the 900 block of East Bonanza Road.
Witnesses called police just before midnight after seeing a man collapse in an alley. Officers went to the area and found the victim, a man in his mid-50s, shot several times, Sgt. Rocky Alby said. Medical personnel were called to the scene, but the man died before he could be taken to the hospital.
Police said witnesses said they heard four or five shots and first noticed the victim walking from the area of 620 N. 10th St., Alby said.
The Clark County coroner's office did not release the victim's name this morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Metro's homicide sectioni at 229-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
