Woman arrested after shots fired in neighbor dispute

An elderly Henderson woman was in jail this morning charged with attempted murder for firing two shots at a neighbor in an early-morning dispute, police said.
Carrie Frazier, 68, was arrested shortly before 7 a.m. , five hours after police received the first call reporting shots had been fired in her neighborhood, said Henderson Police spokesman Shane Lewis.
The altercation began when a man who lives across the street from Frazier took out his garbage shortly before 2 a.m., Lewis said. The victim's and Frazier's homes face each other on Evening Song Avenue in a gated neighborhood just north of Arroyo Grande Boulevard at Horizon Ridge Parkway.
The man, whose name has not been released, is in his late 20s or early 30s, police said. He told police he and Frazier got into a heated argument that apparently prompted her to shoot at him with a handgun, Lewis said.
Frazier was standing on her own driveway about 20 to 25 feet from the victim when she fired two shots at her neighbor, Lewis said.
"That's fairly close range ... we're very glad she missed," Lewis said. "(The victim) was very shaken up but he's talking to us, he's doing OK.'
After arriving on the scene police evacuated several nearby residences and began attempting to coax Frazier out of her home. It wasn't until after those efforts failed and the SWAT team forced their way into the house that authorities realized Frazier was not inside, Lewis said.
Frazier was found within in minutes inside her late-model silver Toyota Solara not far from the scene, Lewis said. She was arrested without incident.
Police had been called to the neighborhood more than once previously because of problems between Frazier and people living in the victim's townhome, Lewis said.
Frazier has also been cited once before for battery, Lewis said.
