Creel census clerks reported a dramatic decline in fishing activity from the previous week at Lake Mead because of the weather front that enveloped the area.
Anglers who fished the Overton Arm of the lake continued to experience limited success for largemouth bass near St. Thomas. Black rubber worms and crankbait were the most successful bait. No fishing activity was noted at Echo Bay this past week.
Shore anglers fishing the lower basin reported good success for striped bass following the Saturday rainbow trout plants. An angler fishing at Hemenway Point caught a couple of striped bass that weighed in at 6 and 14 pounds. The fish were taken with a plastic lure.
Hemenway Cove, Horsepower Cove, Pumphouse Cove and North Saddle Cove are scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout today.
Willow Beach was scheduled to be stocked with rainbow trout today.
Conditions are still good for ice fishing throughout the entire reservoir. Nighttime temperatures were in the low 30s while the daytime temperatures only reached the low 40s.
