Cancer patients: Look, feel good

The American Cancer Society invites women undergoing treatment for cancer to attend the Look Good ... Feel Better class from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, and March 11, 17 and 25 at various locations throughout the valley.

Look Good ... Feel Better is a free program facilitated by local volunteer cosmetologists that teaches women how to cope with skin changes and hair loss, using cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry.

Dispute resolution lecture planned

Dispute resolution scholar Carrie Menkel-Meadow of the Georgetown University School of Law will discuss "The Lawyer's Roles in Deliberative Democracy" in the first lecture in the Michael and Sonja Saltman Lecture Series at 5 p.m. today in the William S. Boyd School of Law, Room 102.

The event is being sponsored by the new Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution.

Safe School Summit scheduled Saturday

The Gay and Lesbian Straight Education Network of Southern Nevada in partnership with GLSEN National, National Committee for Community Justice, and Planned Parenthood, will host the Las Vegas Safe Schools Youth Summit 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Silverado High School.

The focus of the Safe Schools Summit is to train adult allies and students on starting and maintaining healthy student organizations, how to discover ways to combat harassment in the school place, and about programs such as No Name Calling Week and the Day of Silence and community resources such as Safe Place.

Driver auction set for kids' charities

The Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities will hold its sixth annual NASCAR Fund-raising driver auction at 6 p.m. Thursday at Sam's Town.

A live auction for charity will feature top NASCAR drivers competing in the 2004 Busch Series and the 2004 Nextel Cup. The NASCAR drivers donate their time and are auctioned off to the highest bidders during the fund-raiser event.

The Lake Mead National Recreation Area

is offering the Cholla Forest Hike at 9 a.m. Saturday, a hike up an alluvial fan along dirt roads to an interesting compact grouping of chollas. Also learn how this cholla cactus forest grows. Meet at the Alan Bible Visitor Center. Call 293-8990.
