Book drive will benefit children
In celebration of the seventh annual Read Across America Day commemorating the 100th birthday of Dr. Suess, the Clark County Education Association Community Foundation and Office Depot will hold a book drive to collect new or "gently used" children's books to benefit the Spread the Word: Kids to Kids program.
All area Office Depots are designated drop-off sites. The community is encouraged to donate through the first half of March.
An official presentation of donated books will be made at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Paradise Elementary School with 100 third grade students attending.

Senior outreach program scheduled
L'Dor V'Dor will hold its Homebound Senior Outreach and Socialization program from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m Tuesday at Temple Beth Sholom, 10700 Havenwood Lane.
L'Dor V'Dor is an ongoing senior outreach program of Temple Beth Sholom.
The event will include lunch catered by Chef Gustav Mahler, hamantaschen, surprise entertainment and interaction preschool children of TBS.

Applications due for basketball camp
Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 10-19.
Past participants include: Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter, Jerry Stackhouse, Grant Hill and Antawn Jamison. Players from 50 states and 11 foreign countries attended the 2003 camp.

Seniors can look at personalities
Senior Friends will hold its True Colors Personality Inventory, Part 2 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Green Valley Senior Friends office, 2809 N. Green Valley Parkway.
Eric Killian of the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension will present further information on understanding your personality style and gaining new perspectives on other people in your life.

Safety Adventure on tap Saturday
The Great Safety Adventure, a nonprofit, interactive exhibit that educates elementary school children about home safety, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Lowe's of Henderson, 9955 S. Eastern Ave.
The size of a small house, the 1,200 square-foot animated home unfolds from two tractor-trailers to create a replica of a living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and back yard.
