President Bush wants to spend billions to send men back to the moon and then to Mars. But spending the kind of money these missions call for is totally irresponsible when the president knows that the government faces $500 billion annual deficits for years to come.
Moon missions and probes sent to Mars should only be undertaken when the government is fiscally sound, and preferably they should be underwritten through private enterprise.
