Letter: Nation must not forget Bush’s role after 9-11
Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004 | 8:58 a.m.
Before President Bush even took office we had been warned of possible terrorist attacks focused toward the United States. America did what the other countries may have or may not have expected of us. We kept the peace and the consequence for that was 9-11.
President Bush woke us up from a long sleep, helping us face reality. He made us realize there were groups and countries that would want to harm us and that they needed to be confronted. Bush took action to try to eliminate the negative forces that could harm us, or other countries, again.
We stood by his decision after 9-11 and understood his actions were necessary to stop the threat. No longer could we stand idly by, waiting. Iraq and Afghanistan harbored the terrorists that brought about 9-11. Both countries were run by threatening leaders that caused harm to us, their own and many other countries. Someone had to take a firm hand to try to stop it. He made the only and the best decision to confront a problem any strong, realistic president could make, to stop the terrorism where it begins. The president's actions were and are aimed for the best interests of the American people and other countries.
I ask you now to not forget our feelings after 9-11 and why 9-11 came about. I ask you to recall your feelings when it happened and stand behind our president, to keep him in office and continue what we needed to start. We don't want to become a sleeping nation again.
