Letter: Deskin brought sunshine into many lives
Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 | 5:41 a.m.
WEEKEND EDITION
Feb. 21-22, 2004
A special ray of sunshine has left our community. The one and only Ruthe Deskin, my friend since the 1950s, brought warmth and caring to any situation. She had the ability to brighten the day, lighten the burden and highlight the positive.
Like a gentle ray of sunshine, Ruthe would melt the cold, frigid souls. She would bring laughter into conversations. She could cut to the core of an issue. She knew no strangers. She feared no challenge. She had the greatest sense of humor. She could cut you down to reality with one word. She valued honesty. She respected individualism. She honored the family. She cherished friendship.
And, like the ray of sunshine, only warm memories remain. Ruthe left a lasting impression on all of her friends and readers. Whenever I feel low, I will recall that special Ruthe smile and the twinkle in her eyes and her special sense of humor. If that doesn't lift my spirits, nothing will.
Thank you, Ruthe, for sharing your rays of sunshine and inner strength. May you rest in peace until we all meet again.
