Letter: Bush lacks honor, integrity
Friday, Feb. 20, 2004 | 9:21 a.m.
In the 1999 presidential campaign, officials answered that by saying Bush wanted to wait and take his medical exam with a doctor he knew in Houston. On Friday of last week, White House communications director Dan Bartlett, when asked the same question, said Bush did not take the physical because he knew he was transferring to Alabama and would be in a non-flying status. Saturday's New York Times offered a more plausible scenario -- in 1972 the Air Force started drug testing its pilots.
On "Meet the Press," the president agreed to release all of his military records. The next day his operatives said that they would release only "relevant" records. They were unsure of how his pilot aptitude score got released; a score of 25 out of a possible 100 and an F in anyone's grade book.
This is the same administration that in the 2000 election promised, "We are going to restore honor and integrity to the White House."
