Children can audition for 'Snow White' musical
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department and the Missoula Children's Theatre will partner for the 17th time to bring interactive children's theater to the community.
This year's featured play is "Snow White," a traditional musical that has been updated with a few unexpected twists.
Free audition registration for youth in grades K-12 will be held from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday at Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway, and from 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. March 1 at Valleyview Recreation Center, 500 Harris St.
Auditions will be held at 4 p.m. following registration at both locations. Selected children must be able to rehearse after school during the wee.
Performances will take place at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 28 at Silver Springs, and at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 6 at Valley View Recreation Center.

Overton will host fair for seniors
Residents and visitors are invited to attend a free senior fair from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the United Seniors Center, 475 S. Moapa Valley Blvd. in Overton.
Guest speaker Katie Johnson, a grass-roots manager for the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, will speak on the Medicare prescription bill recently passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush.
Commissioner Bruce Woodbury and Commission Mary Kincaid-Chauncey will address issues of concern to seniors in Southern Nevada. Additionally, a number of senior citizen service providers and legislators are participating and will provide information on issues affecting older citizens.

Junior League plans day for St. Jude's
The Junior League of Las Vegas will donate its time and services from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at St. Jude's Ranch to a full "Day of Beauty" for the children.
The event will enable the children to receive haircuts, manicures, facials, etc. The children will also learn important hygiene techniques and also be given toiletries to take home.
St. Jude's is a community focused on the individual needs of abused, abandoned and neglected children of all races and faiths.
Boys and girls ranging in age form 8 to 18 years old reside at the center in Boulder City.

Reid to speak on health care
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., will speak on The Status of the Health Care Crisis and Proposed Legislation during the League of Women Voters of Las Vegas Valley meeting Saturday.
Reid will answer questions following his presentation after the 9:30 a.m. registration and buffet breakfast at 200 N. Main St. (adjacent to the Main Street Station).
There is a $15 charge for the breakfast and reservations are necessary.

St. Rose planning annual Mardi Gras Ball
St. Rose Dominican Hospitals and Health Foundation will host its 47th annual Mardi Gras Ball at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Bellagio.
The Ball will feature three separate auctions, a silent auction during a hosted cocktail party, a live auction, and an interactive video auction.
