UNLV promotes Snyder, adds line coach
Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 | 9:59 a.m.
UNLV football coach John Robinson didn't have to go very far to find a new offensive coordinator for his football team.
Robinson walked about 20 yards down the hall from his Lied Athletic Complex office, made a quick right and then took a left into the office of Bruce Snyder.
Snyder, the 1996 national coach of the year at Arizona State and the Rebels' tight end coach last season, officially takes over the offensive coordinator duties for Rob Boras, who left last week to become tight ends coach with the Chicago Bears.
Robinson also didn't waste any time luring a new offensive line coach, hiring former UNLV grad assistant Jonathan Himebauch.
Himebauch, who was the offensive line coach for the Calgary Stampeeders of the Canadian Football League last year, also coached for a year at Santa Barbara City College. He was a starting center and co-captain for Robinson during his playing days at USC (1994-97) and had brief stints as a player in NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire, the CFL with the Argonauts and the XFL Los Angeles Xtreme.
UNLV begins spring practice on Sunday, March 7.
