Pedestrian killed by car

A 45-year-old man was killed after stepping into traffic Tuesday afternoon at Lamb Boulevard and Cincinnati Avenue, Metro Police said.

Witnesses told police Raul Gonzales Jr. was driving a 1985 Buick southbound on Lamb in the right lane just after 2 p.m. when the man stepped into the road, took several quick steps and crouched down.

Gonzales told police he slammed on his brakes, but the front of the Buick struck the man and knocked him down.

The man was transported to University Medical Center but died shortly afterward.
