9-year-old killed in crash

Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 | 10:10 a.m.

A 9-year-old Las Vegas boy was killed in a single-vehicle rollover late Tuesday along Interstate 15 just south of Blue Diamond Road, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The boy, who was sitting in the rear center seat, was partially ejected from the GMC sport utility vehicle, but investigators did not immediately know whether the boy slipped out of a seat belt or was not wearing one, the NHP said.

Two others in the vehicle were injured during the 11 p.m. accident.

The SUV was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 when it drifted off to the left, over-corrected to the right and then went out of control off the right side of the road and overturned, the NHP said.

The driver and the other passenger were not injured, the NHP said.

The names of the occupants were not immediately available for release. All are Las Vegas residents, the NHP said.
