Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 | 9:22 a.m.

The Cotton Blossom Singers, an award-winning choir from Piney Woods, Miss., will hold four performances this weekend throughout Las Vegas.

The 40-member choir is composed of students in grades nine through 12, from The Piney Woods School, the largest of the nation's four historically black boarding schools.

Created in 1921, the choir has performed across the nation, appeared on several television programs and has earned awards and superior ratings, according to The Piney Woods School website.

In 1994, the Cotton Blossom Singers were inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Fame. Four years later, the choir received the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts.

The first performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at the Great Commission, Interdenominational Church, 3329 Coleman St., North Las Vegas.

Saturday's performance will begin at 3 p.m. at West Sahara Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

The choir's two Sunday concerts will be held at 8 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave., and 9:45 a.m. at Victory Baptist Church, 400 W. Monroe Ave.
