One of two escaped inmates caught

One of two inmates who escaped Saturday from a minimum security prison in Jean was caught Sunday in Las Vegas, but another prisoner was still on the loose this morning, police said.

About 11 p.m. Saturday, authorities realized inmates Christopher Meecham and Kenneth Rehark had disappeared from a minimum-security work assignment at the Southern Nevada Correctional Center in Jean, state Department of Corrections officials said.

Meecham who was serving a one- to four-year sentence for forgery, had not been caught as of this morning, police said.

Meecham is 36 years old, white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds, has multiple tatoos, and has blue eyes and blond hair.

Rehark, 25, was arrested by police about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of an acquaintance in the 200 block of South Cimarron Road, Metro Police Lt. Dave Logue said.

Rehark had been serving a one- to four-year sentence for possession of a stolen vehicle, according to Department of Corrections records.

Logue said police also recovered a corrections department pickup truck that had been stolen and used in the escape.
